AEC’s parent company OCU Group has acquired Pilecom Pty Ltd (“Pilecom”), a specialist provider of pre-enablement engineering for solar farm and energy infrastructure services in Australia.
Pilecom, based in Perth, has established a strong track record in utility-scale solar projects, delivering comprehensive above-ground solar construction services, including pile testing and geotechnical investigation, precision pile driving, hard rock drilling, mechanical assembly and solar module installation.
Similar to AEC, Pilecom’s approach combines in-house specialist equipment and experienced personnel to deliver reliable outcomes on complex renewable infrastructure works.
This acquisition positions OCU to accelerate delivery of integrated renewables infrastructure services for existing and new clients by building deeper in-market execution capability and capacity.
As OCU Group companies, AEC and Pilecom can now offer Developers and EPCs a one-stop shop for below ground electrical and above-ground works, including mechanical solutions, module installation and underground engineering for utility-scale solar projects across Australia and New Zealand.
Michael Hughes, CEO of OCU Group, commented: “Investing in Pilecom is a strategic step that enhances our operational footprint and technical strength in Australia’s renewable energy market.”
“Pilecom’s comprehensive offering from foundational geotechnical works through to mechanical module installation aligns with our commitment to delivering high quality, end-to-end solutions for clients,” he said.
Pilecom Managing Director, Luke Cousins added: “Our team of specialist professionals has built a first-class reputation grounded in quality and technical precision, safely and effectively delivering projects totalling two gigawatts of installed solar capacity across Australia. Joining OCU Group gives us the scale and support to extend our reach while maintaining the exceptional operational standards our clients expect.”
AEC’s co-founder Steve Urquhart welcomed the deal “We have seen Pilecom’s work and respect the depth of their expertise across some of Australia’s largest solar farm builds. Bringing this capability into the OCU Group will strengthen our collective delivery model and help meet the growing demand for specialist energy infrastructure in the region,” he said.
Pilecom has offices in Perth and Sydney, and established a strong track record of success delivering a comprehensive range of services including pile testing and geotechnical investigation, pile driving, and hard rock drilling, in addition to the mechanical assembly and installation of solar modules. With the backing and experience of OCU Group, and the ability to offer streamlined services for Solar EPCs and Developers, AEC and Pilecom are positioned for even stronger growth across Australia and New Zealand in 2026 and beyond.
