Ulinda Park BESS is a large-scale battery energy storage system adjacent to the Western Downs Substation in Queensland’s energy heartland.
The 275kV connection joins the BESS to the existing substation and ensured cost efficient delivery of renewable energy to customers in Queensland while supporting the network.
Key Scope & Capabilities:
- Site preparation and construction of access tracks and turn around bays suitable for the equipment including a custom built 50tonne cable trailer, and specialist winches and pushers.
- Trenching and installation of the 1,200mm2 275kV cable system using a combination of direct buried and conduit pulls.
- Construction of insitu concrete joint bays, fibre pits and link boxes
- Mechanical installation of 1,200mm2 275kV cable to sealing end structures inside the BESS and Substation.
- Cable pulling tension calculations to verify design.
- Installation of auxiliary systems (earthing and comms)
- Installation of environmentally controlled jointing container and scaffold systems for terminations.
